CHLOROPHYLL SERIES
There are over 400,000 species of plants alive today, with an incredible range of shape, size and color. From the ocean floor to the tundra and all the swamps and prairies and tropics and backyards in-between, plants stake their claim in the biology of the planet.

Approximately 2.8 billion years ago plant life developed a specialized system called photosynthesis, using carbon dioxide and water and the sunlight to produce carbohydrates and oxygen.  Plants exist because of this remarkably efficient system. Human beings and all other animals exist because of the oxygen plants exhale. We need them more than they need us.

Photosynthesis is made possible by a molecule called chlorophyll, which is unique to plant life.  Chlorophyll is why plants are green.

These pieces are made with colored pencil drawings over Polaroid transfer.
All are 17" X 22"j
